DARREN M. SILVA

Darren Silva grew up on a family ranch in Los Banos, California with his parents, two brothers and one sister. This lifestyle instilled a great work ethic and appreciation for life.

Darren earned his Bachelor´s degree in marketing from California State University, Fresno, with a minor in agricultural economics. He earned his Master´s degree in Business and Taxation at California State University, Sacramento.

While in graduate school, Darren worked full-time for a Joint Powers Authority that provided excess liability and workers compensation insurance to school districts in California. After completing his graduate work, Darren spent approximately four years working for the largest local public accounting firm in Sacramento. His experience in public accounting included preparation of individual, passthrough entity and corporate tax returns, as well as audits of Joint Power Authorities, school districts, and banks.

After four years of public accounting, Darren joined Kaiser Permanente as an Assistant Controller/Financial Analyst for one of their medical facilities in Sacramento. His responsibilities included various management team functions, benchmarking of facility doctors and patient visits and budgeting.

In 1998, Darren joined the litigation support firm of Schultze, Wallace & O'Neil in the marital dissolution and business valuation department. Darren was excited by the opportunity to join an elite firm and considers this a defining moment in his professional development.

Since joining the firm (now Schultze, Boone & Silva), Darren's professional development has included career advancement from staff level analyst to principal and named expert. His experiences includes, but are not limited to, business valuation, income analysis, complex tracings of separate and community property, real property Moore/Marsden apportionments, business apportionments related to Pereira/Van Camp issues, stock option allocations, and assisting in the settlement of cases. He has also represented clients in various tax matters and has provided tax planning, tax analysis and tax preparation services.

Darren´s professional affiliations include National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, American Society of Appraiser (candidate member), American Society of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Darren spends personal time with his wife and young sons. He also enjoys participating in various sporting activities and spending time with his extended family and friends.
